Unlock MIO Spirit GPS devices
Unlock MIO Spirit GPS
There doesn’t appear to be much information available for unlocking Mio Spirit models and the little information available isn’t consolidated in one place. This thread ought to be useful for many people. I’m also hoping that Spirit owners will post their models and “SEEKER” folder names here so that I can make the MioPocket Readme as complete as possible.
SD Unlocking Instructions:
1. Create, in the root of your SD card, a folder named “Default” (so that it looks like \Storage card\Default).
If that doesn’t work, use, instead, one of the following names, depending on your model (Note: filenames ARE case-sensitive):
* Spirit S400/S410: SEEKER_400
* Spirit S500/S505: SEEKER_T500
If “Default” doesn’t work and one the “SEEKER” names doesn’t work, connect your device to your computer and, if you have a file named “app_startup.txt” in the root of your flash drive, open it, scroll down to the very bottom and look for the line that starts with RunSDCardExecutable. That line will look something like this…
RunSDCardExecutable(SmartST_CE – Run()): CreateProcess(\Storage card\FOLDER\auto.exe) failed, error 2
…with FOLDER being the folder name that your device requires. Create that folder on your SD card.
2. Next, copy the file that you want to unlock the device with to your “SEEKER” folder and rename it to Auto.exe. If you’re trying to unlock with MioPocket, copy MioAutoRun.exe, MioAutoRun.mscr and MortScript.exe to your “SEEKER” folder and rename the first two to Auto.exe and Auto.mscr, respectively.
3. If you have the USB cable attached, disconnect it. While your device is on, insert your SD card into your device. If it’s already in, pop it out and back in. Alternately, you may be able to initiate installation by tapping the power button once and then, once the screen goes off, once again. You may need to move the slider switch all the way to the right, then back to the fully left position.
That ought to run whatever you renamed to Auto.exe, hopefully unlocking your device. Note that I don’t own a Spirit and have never used one, so don’t count on me being able to help beyond this, but, if you ask in this thread, another Spirit owner may be able to help.
Most importantly, please add to the list of models and “SEEKER” folders above if yours are not included. I’d like to get a list going for Spirit models like I did for the Moovs last year.
